Open Question: What can I do for my amazing Husband?

I want to do something really special for my husband but I can't think of anything and I don't have lots of money. He is so amazing and deserves the best. We just got married a week ago. We've been together for 3 years and living together for 2. He spoils me to no end. He is always surprising me and showering me with adore and affection. He gets up in the morning and cleans the snow off my car for me even though he could stay in bed another hour. He stays on top of his chores. He has been helping me pay off my student loan debt. He speaks highly of me to his friends and family. He said last night that he can't wait to have kids with me. He told me I'd be a great mom. He does every this for me and I just don't know how to repay him. I never asked him to be so perfect. I guess I just got lucky. Anyways, he's leaving for basic training in 39 days for the Army and I really want to do something for him. thanks so much for any ideas you can provide! :)

Open Question: withdrawal from course affect student loan?

I need to withdrawal from a class because I am getting a D and don't want it to affect my GPA. Will this affect my loan? I have an unsubsidized loan so I know I will be paying back the loan anyway. And will this affect any scholarships I might apply for in the future? This class is just an elective so I don't need to take it over.

Open Question: How can I get a full scholarship for my Graduate studies?

I'm majoring in Biology for my Bachelors degree, and the tuition in my local university is dirt cheap. But once I graduate, I want to go to a university over at the States. I was thinking of a Masters and Doctorate degree in Marine Biology. However, my parents can't afford to pay 10,000$+ by semester in tuition, and paying off such heavy student loans once I graduate can be a huge hassle.

I only make $400 a month, and barely have enough to keep after my car payments and other miscellaneous things. I have a single mom and she makes 40K. Open Question: Paying back student loans?

I'm in a jam. I need to payback my student loans but their is no way possible for me to do it. Both my wife and I have student loans. I'm guessing on her side she has around 50,000 to 60,000 in loans that she has to pay back. I'm around 18,000. A year and a half ago we filed a chapter 13 bankruptcy. THis does hold off studnet loans until we are out of the chapter 13 which will be in about a year and a half. I know that a chapter 7 will not receive rid of the student loans, but their is now way I can pay that amount back. Is their anything that I can do, or is their a something that I can do to receive the payment amounts down to a reasonable amount?

Open Question: I have recently filed for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy and had my 341 meeting a few weeks ago. I have student loans ?

with Sallie Mae and my understanding was that it wasn't dis chargeable. Since that meeting I haven't made a payment to my student loan and usually when I am a day tardy i receive harassed by them with phone calls to my home, cell and work. I have not been contacted and on my credit report Sallie Mae posted that it was included in bankruptcy. My petition included Sallie Mae so is there a chance that I have slipped through the cracks and my loans could be discharged? I also try to log into my account online to look my balance and it is no longer available and it gives me a number to call. Open Question: Does it make sense that FAFSA only approved me for a loan?

I am entering SJSU, I am a dependent student and make only $400 a month. every of income goes towards my car payments and the relax is miscellaneous, I end up having very little at the end of the month. I live with my single mom, and she makes about 40k a year. Again our rent is somewhat high, and she has no support from my dad, so she ends up having just a little bit in her savings by the end of the year. I only got approved for a: Fed Unsubsidized Stafford Ln of $3,500. Enough to cover my Spring semester, but given my situation I was expecting a grant. Is this right? And if not what can I do to change this course of action? Thank you. Thanks for every the info. I think something went wrong with my application, or maybe my special circumstances form has not been processed yet because my EFC has this listed: Contribution from Parents: $2,420.00 Contribution from Student: $4,925.00 Total Expected Contribution: $7,345.00 I don't look where they expect me to receive $5,000 a year from, if anything those numbers should be switched around even though my mom can't receive that much herself. Thanks again for the info, I will talk to them tomorrow. I did submit my FAFSA application 2 days tardy, and my SJSU application got processed as soon as possible for transfer students for the Spring semester which was in August.

Open Question: Does the law profession outweigh the student loans? Is a Tier 2 law school worth the money?

I am thinking about attending law school after I have done my master's. There are two reasons why I am doing it. One is to receive a second chance to tug up my grades. SInce I was living in another country, when I moved to USA, I struggled a lot with the language, ergo my GPA is not as good as other law school applicants (3.4) The second one is because I am not sure that I will be able to attend to law school. Does the profession (what you make after you graduate) outweigh the student loans? Most good law schools would either cost me out of state tuition or be private institutions. every in every, I would end up with approximate $125,000 in loans only. Is it really worth it? Are there programs that help repay these loans? Second of every, I have been researching and with my GPA and possible LSAT score( I am pretty sure I will not receive a 162),my options are mainly second tier schools. Is going to these schools worth the cost? Or, should I just not go to law school if I can't receive into a tier 1? (You know, the saying that you are buying your profession...) Without tiers, what is the lowest ranking you recommend anyone getting into law school in order to (when you graduate) receive a good job? (Please mention some good law schools besides the typical Ivy league) If my interest is mainly research and policy analysis, should I even go to law school? Is there more to it than just the litigation part of it? Thanks !!!!

Open Question: Can my wages be garnished over my student loan?

Hello. My student loan is a private student loan owned by the First Marblehead corp. It was serviced by American Education Services and gaurenteed by TERI. I read that TERI filled bankruptcy 4-7-08 and the FMH corp was looking for a new gaurentur. So with that swaid Im not sure if Teri will be the one paying FMH or if they will have to find a new garentur. I called TERI and they do not have my loan at this time FMH corp has it - so I assume that means TERI didnt pay out on it yet. My loan has been in default since 3/08. Now I look that the fair credit report says this "every states allow wage garnishment for child support, alimony, taxes and federal student loans" My loan was a private student loan so does this mean I am safe from this? My state doesnt allow any other type of wage garnishment other than this. THANKS Thanks Suddenly, But let me point out that Salle Mae uses a FEDERAL garenture and there for is considered a federal student laon even though it is marketed as private. TERI is not a federal garenture so it does not fall below the same law by the fair credit act that every states must abid by for FEDERAL loans.

Open Question: How can I find out if I defaulted on a private student loan?

I had been 3 payments behind on my chase student loans. I tried applying for a forbearance with them but they said I had to have been paying for the loan for a least a year in order for the forbearance to be granted. So, the only thing i could do was not make the payments because I didn't have any money and they were not willing to give me a forbearance or some type of extension for 4 months. I know I should have made my payments on time, but I couldn't because I was unemployed for like 8-9 months. I had to cease searching for a job b/c my dad fell sick so I had to stay home and take care of him for a couple of months. I just recently got a job and was able to pay those tardy payments and now I am up to date on my loans. I asked this question before and every the answers I kept getting were from people advertising a lender in order for me to receive a loan. I am not looking for a loan, I am already up to date on mines. I just want to look if at one moment during the time I didn't pay I had been in default. I feel bad because my mom is my co-signer and I think it affected her credit, which she had a pretty good credit. Also, she doesn't know I fell behind 3 payments and that makes me feel worse.

Resolved Question: Should I file for Bankruptcy?

Ok, here is my situation. When I was 19, I was stupid enough to let my family receive a home below my name below one of those "liar loans" (the ones where they falsify tax returns to make it seem like you earn more than you actually do. The home was below two loans, I lost the home to a foreclosure. I had a car that I was not able to keep making payments on, it was repossessed. I also had a credit card that I was not able to pay back. It was also closed. (I actually had two, but I was able to pay one off) I currently have only a pickup truck to my name. What do you guys think I should do? Should I file for Bankruptcy? What about the foreclosures and repos? How long do they stay on my credit? And the credit card....I can probably pay that one off. (it's in collections) I honestly have no idea what to do. I also have a student loan i'm having trouble repaying, but I already know those are exempt from bankruptcies. I need help...bad. Guys any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated. I realize I was living beyond my means and ultimately this is MY fault. But I want to make things right again. Thank you for your time, I know this was a very wordy question.

Open Question: How much debt is ok? and What is considered good debt?

My husband and I try to be very financially and credit conscience, we have NO credit cards, never have/never will (hopefully). We bought our home and currently owe about $129,000 on it, at 5.75% and we make $100 extra principle payment/month, we each have our vehicles financed, he owes $9,100 at 3% and I owe $9,780 at 8%, we then owe my parents $9,000 for their help in the down payment on our home, we have no other debt, and my student loans will be paid off in December, before accruing any interest. In total, we're at about $160,000 debt (including interest). Is our home loan even considered debt? I just don't know if this is every good or bad? Any suggestions, or should I keep doing what we're doing? Thank You.... THANKS for the tips about paying off the debt w/ the highest interest rate first, I'll make that my first priority, it makes the most sense. Our monthly income is right about $3,500 and our credit score is over 700.

I know I should have made my payments on time, but I couldn't because I was unemployed for like 8-9 months. I had to cease searching for a job b/c my dad fell sick so I had to stay home and take care of him for a couple of months. When I finally started searching again and going to interviews, I just wouldn't receive hired until recently. I have paid my tardy payments and am up to date with my loans. And I just want to look if at one moment during that time I had been in default. I feel bad because my mom is my co-signer and I think it affected her credit, which she had a pretty good credit. Also, she doesn't know I fell behind 3 payments and that makes me feel worse.

So, I transfered colleges recently. More specifically, I'm a sophomore transferring to The Ohio State University. As of now I have 4 grants and 2 loans; the loans being Stafford Loans. Since I'm living in a dorm, I am required to arrive up with an additional 2,000 dollars. Where is the best place to apply for additional student loans? Thanks.

Open Question: Does Sallie Mae report to Experian on your Credit Report?

I have noticed my student loan from Sallie Mae is not reporting to Experian. I know they are not legally obligated to report to every 3 agencies, but this is my ONLY account that doesn't report to to every three agencies. This is my oldest account, & I need every point I can receive, to finance a new home. Do YOU have a Sallie Mae loan that DOES report to Experian? Should I ask them to report in a formal letter? every tips are welcome.

Open Question: How fast do you get approval for a Citi Bank Student Loan?

I am getting a loan for twenty thousand dollars. I have a really good co-signer and we're using the Citi Student Loan (apparently it's the best). How quick can someone be approved? I'm not talking about actually receiving the funds, just getting approved.

Open Question: I'm thinking about joining the National Guard- what do you think?

I heard they pay off your student loans, train you for a job, and can help pay for education, and every you have to do is work a weekend once a month for like 6 years. But I don't want to have to battle anyone, as I don't want to be a killer. But I have no problem doing IT or some other non-fighting job.

Open Question: Looking to rent in Tallahassee, FL on a limited income with pets, 2 dogs @ 50# & a few older cats, help?

I have recently ended a very long term relationship and I am looking for my possess place. I about $1000 a month and have no savings or credit cards, most likely can receive no loans. I am living paycheck to paycheck these days. I don't need a big place. Problem being I am not a student, I work for a low cost clinic w/ no lift in sight. I have two adult dogs weighing a little less than 50# (which most rentals don't want) and three cats. I am very involved in the homeless animal community and there is no way I am sending my pets away. My oldest dog is 5 w/ hip issues. I have had her since she was 8 wks and 1 day. My other dog is a little over a year and I have had him since before every his milk teeth came in. Two of my cats I have had for eight years, I rescued them from a box infested with worms and fleas. My other cat I raised since she was a few days old, feeding her and her litter mates ever two hours for weeks. I was the first thing she saw when she opened her eyes for the first time. I also foster homeless animals on a regular basis. This is a huge part of my life. It is very difficult to find a place to live on my income in Tallahassee, but so much harder with pets. I have searched on line and asked around. I know most places that are low cost are rented via word of mouth in Tallahassee. I am 31, been at the same job for years, and not planning on moving out of town soon. If you have any advice where to look, or an organization I can contact, please advise. People who think it is fun to be rude will be reported!!! Thank you to every others in advance for advice. It is greatly appreciated! I wish one day I can return the favor.
